Derrick joined U-No-Hoo in 1984 after a two year stint with Kettering based band "Norman and The Nerves", of which he was a founder member.

 Previously Derrick was a member of the "Four Teens" for three years playing as supporting band to acts such as Dell Shannon, The Barron Knights and Paper Lace.
